Infinera says its sled-based GX Series compact modular optical networking platform helps network operators reduce capex and opex significantly while increasing network scalability, flexibility, and programmability. Utilizing Infinera’s ICE6, network operators can now transport more data over longer distances, reducing cost per bit per kilometer. The capex and opex savings are achieved as optical transport networks can now be built with less equipment, requiring less power consumption per bit, and using less rack space. For example, with ICE6, the Infinera GX Series can transport 800 Gbps with a single wavelength over more than 900 km without expensive signal regeneration. This makes it one of the most spectrally efficient solutions in the industry and provides fiber capacity of up to 42.4 Tb/s in the extended C-band.
Judge’s Comment: “This submission is an excellent product with technical features and performance that provide clear and substantial benefits...There is no denying the sum total of all the features combine to make a very compelling story and market impact.”
