ZTE has developed PON+, an enhanced PON system with advanced capabilities in terms of latency, compute capability, and slicing to exploit the tremendous potential of PON and to help customers achieve more business possibilities. ZTE and China Unicom have worked together to complete China’s first FTTH-based “Smart Community” pilot, expanding the “Smart Community” service on the existing PON through virtual slicing.

Judge’s comment: “This approach clearly takes PON to the next level of performance, illustrating that 5G is not the only solution for low-latency connections."
