MACOM Announces Industry’s Leading Up-Converter for 28 - 34 GHz Point-to-Point Radio Applications

Sept. 25, 2014

Up Converter boasts industry’s best LO Suppression and high linearity in a 4mm PQFN package

Lowell, Mass, September 24, 2014– M/A-COM Technology Solutions Holdings Inc.  (“MACOM”), a leading supplier of high performance RF, microwave, and millimeter wave products today, announced a new up- converter that is ideally suited for 28 and 34 GHz point-to-point radio applications

The MAUC-011003 is an integrated up-converter assembled in a lead-free 4 mm 24-lead PQFN plastic package. This device has a typical conversion gain of 12 dB, and an image rejection of 15 dBc and is integrated with a LO doubler, LO buffer amplifier, and RF buffer amplifier. Operating over the 28-34 GHz frequency bandwidth, the device boasts the industry’s leading LO suppression that eliminates the customers’ need for a Tx Filter.

“The MAUC-011003 is ideal for customers looking for a high performance up-converter for use in current and next generation point-to-point microwave radios.” said Michael O’Driscoll, Product Manager. “The exceptional LO leakage performance and high linearity enables the implementation of high order modulation schemes using direct up-conversion or using an IF with minimal LO filtering, hence reducing the complexity and cost of the overall system for our customers.”

The MAUC-011003 delivers turn down trajectories optimized to maintain linearity and 2xLO leakage over the gain control range and is ideally suited for 28-34 GHz bandwidth for point-to-point radios under both LSB and USB operation and Ka-Band VSAT applications.
