Ireland’s INEX uses Coriant Groove G30 for scalable high-speed service
Coriant says that it has supplied its Groove G30 Network Disaggregation Platform (NDP) to INEX, the internet peering point for the island of Ireland. INEX has deployed Coriant's optical transport systems in its backbone network to enhance secure, scalable high-speed service delivery, including 100G interconnect services with potential for internet exchange traffic growth.
The Coriant Groove G30 is an optical transport platform that provides 3.2 Tbps of capacity throughput in a compact, power-efficient 1RU form factor. According to Coriant, the network deployment will enable INEX to scale backbone capacity and enhance connectivity of encrypted high-speed services.
"As 100G technology has matured and improved, a viable data center interconnect product that gives the long-term cost savings a maturing market demands has been awaited," said Nick Hilliard, INEX chief technology officer. "With this high-density, low power consumption product, Coriant has met that market demand and is well positioned to lead in this area. After a thorough review of options on the market, the Coriant Groove G30 gave INEX the confidence to deploy what we see as a long-term scalable platform enabling us to provide services to our Internet exchange members well into the future."
In July of this year, Coriant supplied the Groove G30 to carrier and data center-neutral IXPStockholm Internet eXchange to support increasing metro traffic demands (see "Stockholm Internet eXchange uses Coriant Groove G30 to support metro traffic growth"). In the case of INEX, Coriant will supply the Groove G30 to support secure communications that are essential to the INEX member services, the company says.
"The Groove G30 combines robust encryption capabilities with an ultra-dense and scalable design that will assist us in providing faster, more reliable, and secure low latency peering services to our member community, as their needs evolve," adds Hilliard.
