At the SCTE/ISBE Cable-Tec Expo in Denver, EXFO Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO, TSX: EXF) is demonstrating the multipurpose EX1, which it attests is the first pocket-sized instrument to enable technicians to measure subscribers' actual bandwidth throughput using Speedtest by Ookla. EX1 will do so up to full line rate Gigabit Ethernet.

According to EXFO, the EX1 delivers active testing capabilities for service lifecycle testing, and for continuous or on-demand performance monitoring at points of contention. Designed for network evolution, the EX1 offers a future-proof, scalable platform for supporting evolving applications, including WiFi testing capabilities, the company says.

Intermittent quality challenges demand that more time is spent troubleshooting, requiring flexible monitoring technology that remains in place. The portable EX1 is designed for such on-demand performance testing with a feature set that includes more than 140 tests. It can also be controlled via smart devices.

"The EX1 is a powerful tool to validate that speed promised is speed delivered. Technicians can simply connect to the EX1 through their smart device for a true untethered testing experience," said Stéphane Chabot, EXFO's Vice President, test, and measurement. "Add continuous monitoring capabilities and our customers get precise and actionable data intelligence using a solution that's perfect for use in service commissioning or break/fix scenarios."

EXFO is showcasing the EXI at Cable-Tec Expo 2017 (October 18-20, Denver, CO, Booth #1907). The company also offers Speedtest-enabled capabilities on other instruments (see "EXFO adds Ookla's Speedtest capability to MaxTester 635G for FTTx testing”).
