EXFO adds Ookla's Speedtest capability to MaxTester 635G for FTTx testing
EXFO Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO, TSX: EXF) says it has reached an agreement with Ookla to add the latter's Speedtest capability to EXFO's MaxTester 635G portable FTTx test instrument. The software-based capability helps perform upstream/downstream throughput tests.
EXFO unveiled the MaxTester 635G as a test instrument for G.fast and xDSL applications (see "EXFO offers G.fast handheld test set"). The addition of the Ookla Speedtest throughput testing and analysis software enable the instrument to measure the true TCP throughput over the subscriber's G.fast/DSL or Ethernet circuit, the company says. Technicians will see more consistent results and improved efficiency over the MaxTester 635G, which can perform physical, service, and throughput testing, EXFO adds. The unit can perform tests at a variety of points in the network, including DPU/DSLAM, NID, and ONT.
"To thrive in a context of massive industry transformation, service providers need more consistent and accurate network testing, executed more efficiently," said Stéphane Chabot, EXFO's vice-president, test and measurement. "As their partners, our job is to develop smarter solutions that meet those needs. We're proud to be the first to integrate Speedtest and provide operators with the perfect all-in-one tool for residential testing."
