Seaborn Networks has unveiled SeaSpeed, a low-latency point-to-point service that runs between Carteret, NJ, and São Paulo, Brazil, over the company's Seabras-1 submarine cable. Seaborn says Seabras-1 will be ready for service in June 2017.

In addition to what Seaborn asserts is the lowest latency between the New York/New Jersey area and Brazil, SeaSpeed also will feature “industry-leading” service level agreements, circuit turn up in a few days, and direct communications for customers with Seaborn as the submarine network developer/owner/operator.

"Seabras-1 was already expected to offer improved latency over the multi-point solutions that currently exist on this route," said Paul Creelman, business development director and head of low latency sales at Seaborn. "However, SeaSpeed is an enhanced, proprietary, end-to-end solution that offers the fastest path."

Seaborn says that cable laying on Seabras-1 will begin early in the first quarter of next year (see "Alcatel-Lucent to build Seabras-1 US-Brazil 100-Gbps submarine cable network"). The company co-owns the undersea cable system with Partners Group, a global private markets investment management firm.
