Cross River Fiber adds managed services capabilities to dark fiber via MRV
MRV Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRVC) says that dark fiber Cross River Fiber is leveraging the optical transport systems vendor's technology to enable the provision of managed network services as well. The New Jersey-based fiber-optic network service provider will offer the new services across its footprint, which includes locations in New Jersey and New York City.
Cross River Fiber will use both MRV's OptiDriver optical transport systems to connect with third-party providers as well as the OptiSwitch Carrier Ethernet platform to support managed connectivity for carrier access and targeted enterprise vertical sectors.
Cross River Fiber has built an extensive network in the metro New York area to serve an area with a high concentration of financial services firms (see, for example, "Cross River Fiber to expand network" and "Cross River Fiber completes ultra-low latency route in New Jersey"). The new services portfolio will include Ethernet, Optical Transport Network (OTN) and SONET support.
"Cross River Fiber customers will now have access to sophisticated network solutions for interconnecting their data centers and enterprise locations, as well as for connecting with vital cloud providers, within the New Jersey and metropolitan NYC area," said Scott St. John, senior vice president of global sales and service for MRV Communications.
"As Cross River Fiber continues to expand, MRV is the ideal partner to light our network with their 'pay as you grow' solution," said Vincenzo Clemente, Cross River's CEO. "We have already benefited from MRV's industry-leading, cost-effective technology for quite some time, and the work we are currently doing with MRV is taking Cross River Fiber to the next level through significant network enhancements. Our clients in every vertical – from healthcare to government, education, enterprise, and carrier – will enjoy connectivity that is second to none."
