Viavi Solutions (NASDAQ: VIAV) will roll out Release 1.1 of its xSIGHT customer experience assurance (CEA) suite for mobile and wireline networks at TM Forum Live, May 9-12, Nice, France.

xSIGHT offers a centralized analytics platform fed by agents distributed throughout the network. The agents passively analyze traffic in real time, build network and application performance metrics, and selectively store traffic for troubleshooting purposes.

The new release includes the following updates:

  • Virtualized agents: these traffic analysis and storage agents can run on virtual machines to access traffic on virtual network interfaces
  • User plane metrics: real-time analytics of network performance, application use, and comparison between actual performance and application-specific minimum requirements. Viavi asserts xSIGHT's algorithm for application identification is not affected by data encryption or privacy restrictions
  • Selective user plane data capture: targeted user plane packet capture, which avoids filling up buffer and storage capacities by capturing all packets, aids troubleshooting.

Viavi says that "major communication service providers" worldwide use xSIGHT in their networks.
