Pan-European fiber-optic network services provider euNetworks says it now offers a pair of diverse routes to Stockholm on its long-haul DWDM network. Customers may select 10-Gbps and 100-Gbps bandwidth options on the routes, which run between Stockholm and Northern Germany.

The Eastern route runs to Stockholm via Copenhagen while the Western route bypasses Hamburg and Copenhagen, routing via Oslo. euNetworks says that bandwidth demand growth for connections to Stockholm has been strong. Its geographic position makes it a key connectivity hub for content and cloud service providers and offers onwards access to both Russia and China.

"Through 2016 we continue to develop our network in support of our customer's bandwidth growth requirements," said Kevin Dean, chief marketing officer of euNetworks. "Guaranteed diversity to Stockholm with no convergence on Copenhagen and Hamburg is increasingly important to some key segments we serve across Europe. This network expansion delivers this element as well as direct connection into key data centers such as Interxion Stockholm, DigiPlex Stockholm, and Equinix's Stockholm Bromma SK1 site. We are also enabling peering at Sweden's Internet Exchange, Netnod and we continue to offer our market leading ultra low latency solution euTrade, from London to Stockholm and Frankfurt to Stockholm."

At the same time, euNetworks says it also has created a new fiber-optic network link from Hamburg to Amsterdam that avoids Düsseldorf.

The additions come on the heels of expansion plans that include a link to Marseille (see "euNetworks to reach Marseille with DWDM fiber-optic network").
