Optoscribe adds ultra-low crosstalk multicore fiber fanout

Optoscribe says it has added an ultra-low crosstalk option to its 3D Optofan series of multicore fiber fanouts. The company developed the fanout as part of the EC-funded INSPACE project, which seeks to develop complete spatial-spectral flexible fiber-optic network technology.

Optoscribe says it has added an ultra-low crosstalk option to its 3D Optofan series of multicore fiber fanouts (see, for example, "Optoscribe unveils eight-channel multicore fiber fanout device"). The company developed the fanout as part of the EC-funded INSPACE project, which seeks to develop complete spatial-spectral flexible fiber-optic network technology.

The company says it has managed to minimize the amount of stray light within elements of the fanout by carefully controlling the 3D waveguide layout. The result is reduced crosstalk within the fanout, to less than -75 dB, according to the company.

The 3D Optofan series supports transmission of high data rates over short and long-haul distances. It aims to simplify connection to single-mode fibers and multicore fibers in a wide range of applications. The 3D Optofan features broad, flat spectral response with high throughput and minimal insertion losses, Optoscribe asserts.

Customized layout over a wide variety of multicore fibers is available, the company adds.
