EarthLink Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ: ELNK) has unveiled Cloud Express, a service designed to link customers' WANs to such cloud network services as Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. EarthLink says the use of Cloud Express to create a hybrid cloud environment improves network security while increasing bandwidth availability and network uptime.

The company asserts the Cloud Express (a name that must thrill Infinera) virtual network circuits are quickly provisioned, scalable, and have no access costs. The myLink customer portal provides visibility and control.

"Cloud Express creates a solid foundation for our customers to accelerate their shift to the cloud while protecting their brand," said Stephen Currie, vice president of managed services product management at EarthLink. "EarthLink's vision is to create a private cloud ecosystem of SaaS providers within the retail, healthcare, and other industry verticals."

Cloud Express is part of a portfolio of managed services EarthLink provides. These include network as a service and related network planning, hybrid networking services, and security applications. Cloud Express customers also have access to EarthLink's Professional Services team to engineer their network optimization plan. Here, EarthLink will evaluate the customer's network, suggest a WAN architecture, identify workloads that should be moved, recommend a cloud environment and third-party provider, and help migrate workloads to the cloud.
