Dark fiber and neutral colocation provider Allied Fiber says that Windstream has signed an indefeasible right of use (IRU) agreement and lease for both of Allied Fiber's product offerings to expand its fiber-optic network resources between Miami and Jacksonville.

Windstream has partnered with Allied Fiber to help extend its WINterstate long-haul, 100G "express" network. The service provider markets the fiber network to other carriers and large enterprise customers looking for low-latency, high-bandwidth connectivity. The new resources will help Windstream address the needs of ILEC customers in Daytona Beach as well as enterprise customers at key access points along this 360-mile segment of Allied Fiber's Southeast Route (see "Allied Fiber opens southeast fiber-optic network route").

Allied Fiber's network from Miami to Jacksonville consists of a custom 528-count Corning SMF-28e+ cable, with integrated neutral colocation facilities approximately every 60 miles.

"Allied Fiber is an excellent opportunity for us to expand our service offerings," said Randy Nicklas, CTO of Windstream. "We have been pleased with their product and support team and we look forward to growing more with them in the future."
