Gigabit broadband and wireless service provider Ting Fiber Network, a subsidiary of Tucows Inc. (NASDAQ:TCX) (TSX:TC), says it is accepting signups for gigabit Internet services in Charlottesville, VA.

The service is available for $89 per month. Ting says its fiber-optic network currently passes approximately 3,000 homes and businesses in the city, home to the University of Virginia. It expects to be able to serve the neighborhoods of North Downtown, Martha Jefferson, Locust Grove, and Belmont by the end of this year, and the entire city next year.

Ting added fiber to the home (FTTH) based broadband services to its portfolio last December when it acquired Blue Ridge InternetWorks, which had already begun a fiber deployment in Charlottesville. Ting also will provide gigabit Internet services in Westminster, MD, over the city-owned fiber network there.
