euNetworks opens new Frankfurt to Zurich fiber network route

European fiber-optic network services provider euNetworks says it has opened a new, ultra-low latency route from Frankfurt to Zurich. The new route, which euNetworks expects to pair with its London to Frankfurt route, offers access to Equinix's ZH2 International Business Exchange (IBX) data center in Zurich at a latency euNetworks asserts is 9% lower than the best-performing alternative between Frankfurt and the Swiss city.

European fiber-optic network services provider euNetworks says it has opened a new, ultra-low latency route from Frankfurt to Zurich. The new route, which euNetworks expects to pair with its London to Frankfurt route, offers access to Equinix's ZH2 International Business Exchange (IBX) data center in Zurich at a latency euNetworks asserts is 9% lower than the best-performing alternative between Frankfurt and the Swiss city.

For example, the new route can provide London financial services firms with direct access to Zurich-Equinix ZH4, where SIX Swiss Exchange is hosted, with round trip delay of 12.58 msec, euNetworks says. Connections from Equinix's Frankfurt FR2 data center can be made with a round trip delay of 4.65 msec, the company adds. euNetworks entered the Swiss market with the acquisition of Fibre Lac S.A. in 2014 (see "euNetworks moves into Switzerland with Fibre Lac expansion").

The new Frankfurt-to-Zurich route opens after euNetworks optimized its London-to-Frankfurt run this past February to knock 0.18 msec off the round trip delay.
