At the company’s Global Analysts Conference in Shanghai this week, ZTE Corp. (H: 0763.HK / A: 000063.SZ) outlined the company’s new strategy to help customers and partners embrace the era of mobile-ICT.

Under the new Enabler@M-ICT strategy, ZTE says it will deliver enhanced quality of life and higher productivity to consumers by focusing on delivering innovations in four key areas:

  • smart pipes
  • mobile devices
  • cloud-based services
  • Big Data infrastructure systems.

ZTE asserts the Enabler@M-ICT strategy will blend the company’s assets in telecommunications, enterprise ICT, and terminal devices to generate greater value for customers and partners.

“The mobile-ICT era represents a big opportunity for ZTE, as we leverage our strengths in telecommunications, enterprise ICT, and terminal devices to drive innovations that will enable consumers and businesses globally to access information and applications more dynamically than ever before,” said Dr. Zhao Xianming, chief technology officer at ZTE.

ZTE plans to intensify efforts to develop technologies for cloud-based services such as IPTV and smart cities, as well as data center, storage, virtualization, and other Big Data infrastructure systems. In terminal devices, ZTE says it will build smartphones and devices that offer superior user experience and performance to global consumers.

The new strategy announcement follows a reorganization of the company’s operations earlier this year into three primary business groups and divisions – Operator Solutions, Enterprise Business, and Mobile Devices.

Under the new strategy, ZTE’s Operator Solutions business group will focus on serving larger-sized markets and geographic regions. Building on recent developments in managed services operations, such as the multi-year network management contract with E-Plus Group in Germany, ZTE will focus on growing its offerings in services to generate increased value and profitability.

ZTE Enterprise Business will focus on offering products and services to key target industry verticals including transportation, energy, public utilities, financial, and Internet, building on such technology efforts as Smart City and U-Safety.

ZTE Mobile Devices will focus on user-centric innovations in smartphones, tablets, and wearable devices under the company’s Smart 2.0 strategy. ZTE says it will intensify its efforts to develop user software and applications to complement the company’s experience in hardware design.
